Car Window Tint Options in Everett, WA
Most customers start by asking how dark they should tint their windows. I start with what they want the tint to change. Privacy or the need to reduce glare may call for a darker shade because some customers simply do not want to feel like they are driving around in an aquarium. Reducing cabin heat depends much more on the film itself. Visible light transmission, or VLT, tells you how much visible light passes through the finished glass and film. It is not a heat-rejection rating. A lighter ceramic film can sometimes reject more heat than a darker entry-level film because how much heat the film blocks is not determined by darkness alone.
We can demonstrate that difference in the shop with a heat lamp. Customers can feel how different films perform instead of choosing only by how dark the sample looks. Not everyone needs the highest-performance film. We also do not chase the cheapest film just to make the number on the estimate smaller. High-quality window tint should perform well and install cleanly, not simply look good on a sample card. A film that is harder to install or starts creating problems later is not much of a bargain. I would rather use material we trust than have both of us dealing with the same car again because the film failed. That can matter for EV owners too. A cooler cabin may mean the climate-control system has less cooling work to do after the car has been sitting in the sun. I would not turn that into a promise about battery life or range, but it is still a practical benefit for vehicles like Teslas and Rivians.

Washington tint law gets confusing pretty quickly because the number printed on the film is not always the number the finished window ends up measuring. RCW 46.37.430 looks at net film screening, which includes both factory glass and aftermarket film. The general rule for windows other than the windshield is 24% or more light transmission and 35% or less total reflectance. Washington also prohibits installing more than one sheet of film sunscreening material on a window.

The darker-behind-driver exception is limited to vehicle classes listed in the statute. These include manufacturer-identified trucks, motor homes, multipurpose passenger vehicles, and other specified categories. It does not mean every rear window can be made as dark as the owner wants.

Our Car Window Tint Installation Process
We start by figuring out what you actually want the tint to do:
Automotive glass is curved, and tint film starts flat, so forming the film correctly matters. We also mix the installation solution in the shop because the film needs the right amount of slip to move into position before we squeegee the moisture out.
We tell customers not to lower the side windows for 3 days while the film cures. Small moisture pockets can be normal while the film dries. A true air bubble is a different story. Water needs time to leave the film, but trapped air is not something we tell a customer to ignore for a few weeks and hope for the best.

Window Tint Aftercare
Keep the side windows closed for 3 days after installation so the film can begin curing without disturbing the lower edges. Small moisture pockets or temporary haze can appear during the drying process. You can wash the outside of the vehicle, but avoid disturbing or cleaning the inside of the newly tinted glass during the initial curing period. We explain the aftercare for the specific film before you leave the shop.
If something looks wrong after the normal curing period, bring the vehicle back. If it is a problem with our installation, I would rather fix it than give you a long explanation about why you should learn to live with it.
