Promo Box LLC Expands Its Everett Shop With a Dedicated Clean Room for Window Tinting and Paint Protection Film

Company news | Shop expansion | Everett, WA

We used to offer window tinting and paint protection film. Then we stopped, not because we couldn’t do the work, but because we didn’t have a space that could do it properly, and doing it improperly wasn’t an option we were willing to take.

That changed when we added extra space to our Everett shop. We already had a clean installation room built for vehicle wrap production, and the expansion gave us the additional square footage to build out a second dedicated area specifically for tinting and PPF, work that requires a controlled, dust-free environment in a way that standard vehicle graphics production doesn’t. Adding that second space made the return to these services a natural fit rather than a rushed decision.

Here’s what’s actually available now, and why the environment mattered enough to wait for.

Why Window Tinting and PPF Require a Dedicated Clean Room

Paint protection film and window tinting are installations where the environment determines the outcome almost as much as the material and the installer’s skill. Dust control, filtered air, and proper lighting are not optional extras, a single piece of debris trapped under film or tint during application shows up permanently in the finished result.

That’s the specific reason these services were paused rather than run out of a general production space. Vehicle wrap production tolerates a working shop environment. Tint and PPF installation does not. Our expanded Everett facility now includes a dedicated clean-room installation area separated from general vehicle graphics production, built specifically to support window tinting and PPF installation at the standard this kind of work requires.
The graphene-infused ceramic tier blocks 90 to 99 percent of infrared heat, the specific heat a driver feels radiating off the dashboard and steering wheel in direct sun. A common misconception is that darker film automatically means better heat protection; in practice, a lighter graphene film can outperform a darker, cheaper film on actual heat rejection, which matters for anyone choosing tint primarily for comfort and interior protection rather than appearance.

We work primarily with STK and Xpel, both top-tier film manufacturers, and the film we install carries a roughly 10-year expected lifespan with a lifetime warranty. On the legal side, Washington State sets a maximum visible light transmission of 24% for front side windows, rear and back windows have no state-mandated darkness limit. We walk every client through these limits before installation so there are no surprises after the fact.

Paint Protection Film: What’s Actually Under the Surface

Paint protection film is a different category of protection than tint: it’s a physical barrier engineered to absorb impact damage before it reaches the vehicle’s paint. We use primarily STK film, an 8-mil polycarbonate-base film with a ceramic top layer that resists water and dirt and cleans more easily than standard automotive surfaces.

The film protects against rock chips, scratches, UV-related fading, parking lot door dings, and general road debris, the everyday sources of paint damage that accumulate on a daily driver over time. It’s also self-healing: minor surface scratches disappear on their own in direct sunlight or with hot water, while deeper damage that doesn’t self-heal can be addressed as a separate repair.
A full-vehicle PPF installation takes approximately five days in our shop, which includes prep, paint correction where needed, and final cleaning, steps that directly affect how well the film bonds and how the finished result looks.

One clarification that comes up in nearly every PPF conversation: wrap and PPF are not compatible on the same surface. A vehicle gets either PPF plus tint, or a full wrap plus tint, not both on the same panels. We make sure that tradeoff is clear before any work begins, since it affects which direction a client should go depending on whether their priority is paint protection or branding.

Why We Don’t Offer Mobile Installation

Some clients ask whether we can bring tint or PPF installation to them. We don’t, and the reason comes back to the same clean-room requirement that drove the expansion in the first place: dust, temperature control, and consistent lighting are not conditions a mobile setup can reliably provide, and a compromised environment produces a compromised result.

We’d rather deliver a result that holds up for years than accommodate a convenience request that undermines the outcome. Every tint and PPF job runs through our Everett facility, in the space built specifically for it.

What This Expansion Means for Everett and the Surrounding Area

TThe expanded Everett shop now runs vehicle graphics production, window tinting, and PPF installation under one roof, with the tint and PPF work isolated in its own dedicated clean-room space. That combination lets us serve both the commercial fleet side of the business and the personal-vehicle protection side without compromising either, full detail on that transition from commercial-only work to personal vehicle services is covered in why Everett drivers and business owners choose Promo Box for wraps and PPF.

For anyone in Everett, Snohomish County, or the greater Seattle area weighing tint, PPF, or both, the process starts with a direct conversation about the vehicle, the priorities, and which combination of services makes sense.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why did Promo Box stop and then restart window tinting and PPF services?
The services were paused because our Everett shop didn’t have a dedicated environment capable of supporting the dust-free, climate-controlled conditions that tint and PPF installation require. When we expanded the shop and added the extra space, we built a dedicated clean-room installation area specifically for these services, which allowed us to bring them back at the standard we require for any work leaving our facility.

What’s the difference between the three window tint film tiers?
Polycarbonate is the entry-level tier, offering baseline heat and UV rejection. Ceramic is a mid-tier upgrade with improved heat rejection performance. Graphene-infused ceramic is the top tier, blocking 90 to 99 percent of infrared heat, the specific heat felt through the dashboard and steering wheel in direct sun. A lighter graphene-ceramic film can outperform a darker, cheaper film on actual heat rejection despite looking less dark.

What is Washington State’s legal limit for window tint darkness?
Front side windows in Washington State must allow a minimum of 24% visible light transmission. Rear and back windows have no state-mandated darkness restriction. We walk every tinting client through these limits before installation to make sure the finished result is street-legal.

How much does paint protection film cost, and how long does installation take?
Partial front PPF coverage starts around $1,300, full front coverage runs approximately $2,000 to $2,300, and full-vehicle coverage starts around $4,500. A full-vehicle installation takes approximately five days in our shop, including prep, any needed paint correction, and final cleaning before the film goes on.

Can I get both a vehicle wrap and paint protection film on the same vehicle?
Not on the same surfaces. Wrap and PPF are not compatible together on the same panels, a vehicle gets either PPF combined with window tint, or a full vehicle wrap combined with window tint. We clarify this tradeoff with every client before starting work, since the right choice depends on whether the priority is paint protection or brand visibility.
We didn’t bring these services back because a trend called for it. We brought them back because we finally had a shop that could deliver them at the same standard we hold every commercial wrap to, and that standard is the only version of this work worth doing.
